Boxfort Kingdom
The Boxfort Kingdom was my mad capped idea for a fundraiser. I was raising money to get myself to Uganda and Kenya as a volunteer playground designer. So what does a play advocate do?... Why stand on the corner and shake a bucket when you can build a fort and invite the whole city to come play?
The response we had was incredible and we had a much broader interest than I could have imagined. This was really the beginning of my understanding of creative play as a much broader tool. It has the power to bring families together, help children express complex emotions, encourages cooperation, shares intergenerational knowledge and teaches invaluable skills in problem solving.
Creative expression with no considered outcome is a powerful instrument. So let's start treating it that way!
