Modern Colour

This modern new build was a chance to get exciting with colour!
With colour loving and brave clients I was able to present a playful palette which really gives the house life, while still keeping a cohesive feel and sense of calm throughout the house. The outdoors and indoors are truly connected with large glass doors, windows with lit feature gardens and similar materiality indoors and out.
All of the walls in the main living space and bedrooms were the same "Milk White" with most of the colour applied to the rooves and wardrobe doors to give each room a distinctive feel. The room doors , hall and kitchen roof and cupboard doors were also 'Milk White' to allow the utilitarian features to blend into the background.
The Master ensuite was painted a very dark inky blue/green to create a moody, grown up space to luxuriate in. As this was on the North west side of the house the ambient light during the day was sufficient to stop it feeling gloomy and the dim incandescent feature light at night created a truly sexy space.
The girls bedroom was the most fun room with bright orange wardrobe doors , a dusky pink roof and bespoke light fitting. I wanted to create a charming and youthful room that would grow with the girls and still be appropriate in 5 years time. The fabric for the blinds tied together the orange and pink in the room with the khaki green background bringing the colours back to the rest of the house.
The family bathroom was on the East side of the house with limited sun and ambient light so white was the main order of the day in this room. I chose a beautiful crackle glaze, blue tile to bring personality and vitality to the room. This tied in with a custom made oak and stone topped vanity provided the much needed warmth to the space.
All of the elements in this house were chosen for longevity both in service and in style. Using high quality and elegant materials and fixtures means this house will still be beautiful and relevant in many years to come. While the colours and curtains may be changed with taste in the future I wanted the permanent aspects of the home to have enduring appeal.
